EXPLORING PORTUGAL IN FIFTY DAYS |
Three nights at the very nice campsite in Vila Cha cost only 36€. A bargain, considering the clean and nice facilities and unlimited hot showers. Even though we like it here, we can’t stay so we move on and decide, with some reluctance, to drive into Porto. Tough city, driving motorhome through the center, but we arrived at the parking lot at the Douro River's northern banks, not far from the arched iron bridge, the Ponte de Dom LuisI. On foot, we did a three hours walk through the old town. We would have needed three days, to see it all! A fantastic charming and cozy city. We listened to fado music in a small alley and climbed the many stairs, to the top of the city and we were rewarded with an incredible beautiful view of Porto. We don’t regret anythying, it was worth every step. The pictures speak for themselves. Porto! We’ll be back!

With the same effort to get into Porto, we managed to get out. After some searching for a good night parking we found, after dark, a nice place in Paredes, Avanca, called Ribeira Mourão. A nature park with motorhome parking and good lighting. Unfortunately, we stand alone, but this is an extremely calm and quiet place. No cars driving by! Only barking dogs as always! Though they silenced if we were quiet and did not move.
