It was raining when we woke up and it was raining when we were walking the dog, in Praia da Barra.
Not much else to do but to travel on. After a few minutes, we are already in the small fishing village of Costa Nova with its candy-colored houses in red & white, yellow & white, blue & white or green & white. The reason for this almost childish coloring is said to be that the fishermen easier would find the way to their own house, through the constant fog. Such weather as today perhaps?

We were here a few years ago and asked us immediately why we were here today again. Considering the sad weather it was easy to decide to travel a long way today and leave the old wheel tracks.

Our travel-Buddha standing by the steering wheel in the motor home usually lead us to the sunny destinations but it was hardly him that currently led us to the light. We do not know what it may have been that led us here, but now we are in Fátima which is an important place of pilgrimage since 1917, when three local shepherd children is said, to have seen the apparition of the Virgin Mary here, like a glittering figure in a holm oak. The devoted pilgrims approach the sanctuary on their knees.

Here is an exemplary orderly motorhome parking, large parkingplaces with water and sanitation, very good toilet and washing (knee and foot) devices. Here we feel safe and if not the bells are ringing too much during the night, we will have a good nights sleep.
